The Elusive La Jolla Sunset

I feel like I've been stalking this sunset for weeks on end. The damn marine layer appears a couple of hours before sunset almost every day in the late spring/early summer. (May grey, June gloom as the locals say. Even though it's the last part of freakin' July.) Actually, as I was driving to the coast today it looked again like it was socked in, but when I arrived the clouds had thinned considerably. I wonder if that has been the case on the numerous times I've turned around on the way here after seeing the 'wall' of clouds hugging the coast. I think it's better for me not to think about that.

I tried this in HDR but it came out looking darker than this one. This one almost has that HDR feel to it, I think because the clouds look like they have some movement to them, but it's just a regular shot. Maybe a bit under-cooked, but the exposures above this one are pretty washed out.

This one is gorgeous. It makes me wish for more. One of my favs for sure. I love the ocean, and it couldnt be more beautiful here. I love the "arms" of the sun stretching out towards you.
