Morning in MaineThe house where we were staying had a pair of kayaks, and P and I went out almost every day to paddle around the bay, visiting all the little islands that appeared and disappeared, grew and shrank, with the tide. This is the last morning we were planning to be there (long story)... we paddled around for a good long time, stopped on the far shore and collected beach glass and shells, and then almost got stuck as the tide went out--- P had to carry his kayak over a growing peninsula. Wish I could roll the kayak out every morning....

Cheeky MonkeyMy niece is awfully cute, very smart, and very very cheeky. She and my dad have birthdays four days (and, you know, 60+ years) apart, and we celebrated during a week in Maine. The best vacation I've had in a looooong time-- I got to see my family, and you can see the view from the house we stayed at in the window reflection. If you woke up every morning and saw that out your window, how could you not be happy?
