One of the gifts AJ received for his seventh birthday was a constellation projector, which AJ is currently delighted with. I only wish it had an AC plug on it, because the batteries are a pain in the neck to keep charged.

AJ's been fascinated with stars, planets, the sun, dinosaurs and the US map for the past couple years. His growing mental encyclopedia of stellar trivia is growing leaps and bounds. I'm getting hard-pressed to share knowledge with him that he hasn't already mastered.

This is just one more gift that will, ultimately, make the student the master.

I'd never seen one either, but there it was sitting in the toy aisle at Target. It's from National Geographic and it's very, very cool. It helps if you keep it pretty close to a wall -- the letters naming the constellations are sharper that way. But, otherwise, very educational.

AJ likes to fiddle with it in the closet. :)
