Night Flight
Went out last night and braved the elements for some night photography with the Old Man and Kajo. (read more about our excursion on my blog )
When we arrived the clouds opened nicely and I shot this image, after that they closed in and it started raining on and off for the rest of the night.
3 min exposure

Zinc Smelter
Another shot from my Tassie trip. I was fascinated by this Zinc Smelter in Hobart. The amount of lights on this place was incredible.
Really should view Large On Black to appreciate the detail in the factory.
This is a 2 shot panoramic stitch. 30sec exposures to capture all the smoke spewing out of the chimneys.

Cheezy Sunrise Over Sloop Rock
Yeah, yeah yeah.... another cliche cheezy sunrise....
However this one was lovely. Being perched out on a gorgeous granite outcrop overlooking Sloop Rock in Tasmania as the sun came up was absolutely stunning.
While I'm generally trying to stay away from cliche sunrises, there was just so much colour in the pre-dawn light that everything looked like a sunrise. This shot was probably taken at least 40min before sunrise... it was a 4 min exposure, but just look how much colour was in the sky.
If I showed you the incredible pink colours just prior to sunrise, you wouldn't believe they were real.... so I'm not posting them ;-)

Seen Better Days
Check this one out Large On Black
This is my first shot from my trip to Tassie. I got back this morning... in fact this image was the last image that I shot this morning before dawn.
This shot is a single 4.5 min exposure taken with a grad ND as well. (by the way... if you find it hard lining up your grad NDs with the horizon... try doing it at night!!!)
I will probably have a play around with a few different types of treatments for this image.... I was really happy with the captures.... just need to nail the conversion to B&W.

Another Turrimetta Night Experiment
I'm still persisting with the night photography experiments.
This one is definitely an experiment as opposed to a finished work... I've only done some basic curves and levels in Photoshop.
I love what the super long exposure does to the tonality of seascapes. the water goes very abstract almost and you just pick up the tones of the breaking water and sand transitioning into water.
I've still got a lot of learning to do on night photography. I'm enjoying it though.
this was an 8.5min exposure really early in the morning.
