Gary IN is a sad town. With an economy that was rooted solely in the steel Industry, Gary has not faired well over the past few decades. My estimate: Over 60% of its downtown area is vacant and sits rotting, wating for something.

	noyesa says: Gary's crime rate is just unbelievable. I looked it up once on Areaconnect or somethong once and the murder rate was something like 58 murders for every 100,000 people, which is multiples of cities like Philadelphia and Newark, NJ, and 30% or so higher than notorious cities like Detroit and Baltimore.
