The Three Soldiers statue stands near the Vietnam Veterens Memorial. The sculpture was designed by Frederick Hart, who stated, "I see the wall as a kind of ocean, a sea of sacrifice that is overwhelming and nearly incomprehensible in the sweep of names. I place these figures upon the shore of that sea, gazing upon it, standing vigil before it, reflecting the human face of it, the human heart."

Hello, my name is Anthony J. Caiati Sr. From 1979 to 1988 I lived in Patchogue, Long Island N.Y. On October 28th, 1984, I delivered The Vietnam Veterens Memorial Statue to Washington DC. On November 11 ( Veterens Day ) 1984 it was unveiled. A Soldier in Uniform, removed his (High School, or College) Ring and placed it under the Statue, just before it was set in its place. I was very overwhelmed the morning I arrived with the Statue. I had to compose myself before getting out of the 18 wheeler I was driving, I felt it was an HONOR to be the individual to make this delivery. I picked up the Statue in Plainview Long Island on the 27th of October. At that time I was driving for a company called Valliant Rigging and Handling, located in Dear Park, Long Island. It was my first visit to DC, I went over to what we call the Wall. I started reading the names of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. I had to stop, because it was just more then I could handle. I didn't know anyone who lost their life in Vietnam, but I know how it would feel inside if I did. It took a very long time for me to post this honorable message, I feel it is something to be proud of. Although I did not serve in the armed forces, I was ready to go if I was drafted in 1972. I was never drafted. If anyone would like to make contact with me, my email address is ajcaiati@hotmail.com Thank you for taking the time to read what I shared with you.
