A friend of mine had a IIc - I had my mom's
IIe every summer (she was a teacher). I
finally got my own IIgs, and have had an
Apple ever since.
That keyboard was the inspiration for the
IIgs keyboard - to my mind, the best kb ever
made by Apple.

Now, for the ultimate question: how're you
gonna hook it up to the internet? When I
unearthed one of my brother's old Duo 230s, we were fortunate enough to also have found
the ethernet dock I bought for him, and hell
if it didn't just plain work.

got an IIc back in 1990 or so. With a defect
disc controller. by some look I found an
entusuiastic apple dealer that helped me to
get a replacement chip from apple (only in
exchange for the old one) and found someone
to solder it on the board. I ran perfectly.

@delfuego: I found instructions on how to configure it as a dumb terminal
for my Mac. I'll play with that for a while,
but what I *really* want to do is to dig up
some old Apple II BBS software and let people
connect to it over telnet, using my Mac mini
as a proxy.

Where's the money shot of it actually, you
know, on?!? Memories of middle school book
reports are flooding back. Great set.

Anyone else remember Roy Scheider using one
of these in "2010: A Space
Oddysey"? It even had the near-mythical
flat screen on it. In a couple of years you
could make that vision come true!
Seriously, I had one of these back in the
day. Awesome computer, replaced with my also
long-lost IIGS. There's something about those
pre-Mac Apples that hasn't been replicated in
today's new Macs.

I used one of these every day back in junior
high. That really brought back memories.
Loved that machine. I can almost feel the
ProDOS coming back to me. Thanks for the
set.

I loved my //c! It was my second computer
(after the Sinclair ZX-81) and my main
computer for my first teaching job. A bunch
of us teachers had a little user group and
shared software between ourselves. I never
paid for a single piece of software. Yep, I
been a pirate for a long time! Thanks for the
pics, it really brought back memories. BTW,
It's still in my basement.

@ Bettnet
YES, that "2010" scene of Roy
Scheider on the beach with his ultra-flat
Apple II Air...er, I mean //c is one of the
first things I thought of.
Of course, watching the movie, knowing that
the //c has no battery capability, I had to
suspend my disbelief about the fact that
there probably wasn't an AC outlet within
range of his cord, way out there on the
beach...

My first was also an Apple //c (if you don;t
count the Ohio Scientific from 1985).
Enjoy your new toy.

We had a ][c I played ALL the Infocom games
on that puppy! We didn't have the super cool
monitor tho...we had an amber monitor.
Anyone else remember TAIPAN? You had to go
from city to city and buy and sell stuff and
fight pirates.
The ][c was the second computer, an
Aquarius with the rubber keyboard and the 40
column thermal printer and software from Toys
R Us. I even turned papers in printed out on
that 40 column thermal printer :)

Taipan! That was an awesome game... oh how
about Karateka, if you ran towards the
Princess at the end, she kicked you in the
family jewels... lol. I played the Ultima
games from I - V on my //c.
I had a similar set growing up, different
stand though, I also had the thermal printer.
Finding ribbons for that printer was a pain
in the rear end where I lived...
