If you are driving through southwestern Ohio on I-75, you will come across this huge Jesus statue between Monroe and Middletown, Ohio. Comedian Heywood Banks wrote a song about it called Big Butter Jesus. It does look like it's carved out of butter.

That's funny. I never heard that song
before. Did you stop on the highway to take
that picture?

Yes. I pulled off the road on my way home
Friday. I wish I had taken my camera to work
Thursday instead. For one thing it was a much
nicer day. But they were also having
Hogopolis in West Chester. This is a
gathering of Harley Davidson riders.
There was supposedly over a thousand of
them that decended on West Chester for the
weekend. Thursday would have been a good day
to take pictures of Hogopolis and this statue
because of the weather. Friday was not so
good.
One of the guys I work with took a few
shots of Hogopolis Thursday. You can see his
picks at www.flickr.com/photos/eberry/

The first time I heard the song was on 700
wlw. I laughed so hard. Everybody that has
ever passed this place has commented on it. I
have not had the opportunity to stop and snap
a shot. Maybe one of these days. I like the
shot even though it was gloomy that day.

There really should be a full blown area to
pull off to observe this thing. The kind of
road side thing you see when driving through
the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee where there
is occasionally a little area at the side of
the highway big enough to accommodate a few
car loads of site seer’s.
This shot was taken on a gloomy day. One of
these days (on a weekend when the traffic
isn't rediculous) I'll get up early and take
a shot of the sun coming up behind the Solid
Rock Church. At least I will if I can
motivate myself to get up early on a weekend.

Thanks for the note Blamstur. I didn't notice
the birds before but this statue is probably
a popular spot for our feathered friends.
