bridge as background. her work is amazing,
and she's always working and i guess she's
more than 80yo now, right? love her works,
and these spiders that she's
"leaving" everywhere. we have here
in spain also, in the Guggenheim Museum
(Bilbao), it's marvellous!

It is so funny, i keep seeing pictures of

photoshop program like "add a giant
spider to your landscape" sort of thing
until i saw this in person!
and Gon, thanks for the information on
her..that is what i love most about flickr,
there is such a wealth of information about
most anything.

Darwin, just went to wikipedia to make sure:
"Louise Bourgeois (born in Paris,
December 25,1911) is an artist and sculptor.
She is best known for her 'Cells', 'Spiders'
and various drawings, books and sculptures.
In 1938 she moved with her American husband
to New York City, where she still
lives."
there's more interesting info there: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louise_Bourgeois
i don't know how's it now, but last year, a
friend of mine worked at her studio for 6
months, and she was allways there working. as
person, i always heard the best, so great
person as she is great artist. i love her
works.

Gon, thank you so much for that
information...it is amazing that she is still
going and making such amazing art!! Truly an
inspiration. And she is also still causing a
commotion because this piece is very
controversial...even though San Francisco is
a very liberal town at heart; it has very
conservative tastes in art and until
recently, architecture. This piece has gotten
a lot of negative feedback, but I love it.

Most people's photos of these spiders take in
the whole piece - but yours does not - so it
makes it seem larger and more ominous - and
the angle adds to that sense of terror. Nice
work. By the way - if you want to see an
interesting photo of Ms. Bourgeois - just do
a google image search of Mapplethorpe and
Bourgeois.

Your sculpture is a masterpiece!

"Maman" (Mother) by Louise
Bourgeois, her recurrent obsession. There's a
big sculpture of the same kind of creepy
spider at Tokyo's Roppongi Hills. There's
also a flickr group called Maman which is
dedicated to this artist and sculptures. You
should post this pic there.

I like your point of view very much, taking
this picture of a spider with a
"normal" background which makes it
appear even more eerie! and the angle is nice
scary!
Congratulations!
