Cenex Gas Station, Miles City

Cenex Gas Station, 1321 S. Haynes Ave., Miles City, Montana.

When this place first opened it was known as "The General Store" and/or "Interstate Discount" (take your pick). I would like to know who the marketing genius at Cenex was that came up with "Kum & Go" for the name of their stores.

We have many "Kum & Go's" here in Des Moines. I believe it is a midwest station. Around here you wont see a Super America like we have back home, but you see Kum & Go, Quick Trip, and Git 'n Go's. It took some adjusting, but you some chains are only in certain areas of the country.

In Montana the "Super America" gas stations and convenience stores became "Holiday" gas stations/convenience stores. They actually call them "Holiday Stationstores". The Holiday store in Miles City closed a couple (?) of years ago -- shortly after Wal-Mart announced plans to expand its Miles City store into a "SuperCenter" with a gas station. The gas station portion of the "Wal-Mart SuperCenter" is yet to materialize, though. The Holiday store in Miles City was located in pretty cramped quarters, though, so its demise could have been completely unrelated to Wal-Mart's plans.
