Salamander on finger

In late November, 2007, the little salamander was buried underground to hibernate in the Idaho Fish and Game Nature Center vegetable garden area. When staff began to dig up the garden area, a shovel cut off the left leg and part of the tail of the salamander. He was taken inside and he immediately began eating and started to grow back his leg and tail. Salamanders have the remarkable ability to regenerate limbs. This set documents the little salamander's progress.
