Daisy's favorite activity when she's in the house

On Friday evening, I went outside and saw Daisy carrying around a dead animal in her mouth. I screamed at her to DROP IT and went into typical panic / gross-out mode. If it was a bird, it was a really big bird. Like a dove. Which have been hanging out in the viburnums lately, so that's possible. (And sad.) Or it could have been a rat. I have no idea. I took off my glasses so I wouldn't have to see it clearly and disposed of it. She got really sick that night in a way I won't describe because ew, and my parents actually dealt with it because they were petsitting. They cheerfully reported that they have four children and are used to dealing with such grossosities. And it happened again a few nights later. She's not really acting sick, though. She's eating and drinking and now seems to be doing all of her bodily functions normally. I am hoping her mouth and the rest of her system have cleaned themselves out by now. Even though I know she is a dog and it's part of a dog's nature to want to hunt other living creatures and carry them around in their mouths, it makes me want to throw up and gives me the total heebie-jeebies.

I still love her like crazy, though.
