This is amazing. It looks so real. It's a
cyclops hand!

That is extraordinary workmanship. And I can
empathize with your mom -- I have practically
no vision at all in my left eye (since
birth)... which may partially explain my
passion for photography. I see in only two
dimensions anyway!

It is amazing what can be done with
prosthetics these days! Wonderful shot. So
sad about your Mom loosing her eye, though!
That would be horrible to go through! Cheers
to your Mom's courage and humor! Awesome lady
I'm sure!

Kinda creapy(the prosthetic has such a real
emotion to it) yet very artistic...reminds me
of stories my mom used to tell me about her
riding instructor who would pull out his
glass eye when she got in trouble

That shot has real impact and stands out from
all the other 'palm of the hand' shots. And
your mother has at least one beautiful eye!

That is really quite freaky but amazing at
the same time. She's right, the workmanship
is out of this world...

This one's great. The people who hand paint
prosthetic eyes are the unsung heroes of
their profession. The workmanship is not just
vanity, but a genuine necessity, allowing
those wearing false eyes to interract
normally with society as eyes are so
important to human commmunication. The
astonishing realism allows the wearer and
those around them to forget, or to never even
realise, that there is a false eye at all.
Here is a photo I took whilst being fitted
for my current prosthetic eye, showing
samples that are used for colour-matching,
and can never be worn:

I also have one. That's because my nickname
on flickr is "Meu olho esquerdo",
it means "my left eye", the one I
can see with...
I heard a popular saying: "The one who
has one eye is the king on a world of the
blind". *ggg* I think that I'm far from
a queen. Anyway... ;)
I lost my right eye cause of retinoblastoma,
a kind of cancer that still (unfortunally)
kills many babies on my country.
