Golden Gardens

I visited Golden Gardens today with Erin and some friends who were up in the Northwest for the wedding of a couple old high school friends.

I miss West Seattle, but Ballard is great too. I'm not quite as close to Puget Sound as I used to be, but Ballard still has some fantastic shoreline parks nearby. Golden Gardens is one. One nice thing about it that Lincoln Park lacks is the beach dunes.

I used this image to experiment with using an edge mask for sharpening. I'll have to try it some more, but it seems like a really good way to sharpen areas of detail without sharpening noise in areas that don't really need to be sharpened (ie. the sky, out of focus regions, etc.) and thus increasing noise.
