High-speed photo balloon test
To take full advantage of Flickr, you should use a JavaScript-enabled browser and
install the latest version of the Macromedia Flash Player .
Photo of a balloon being popped with a needle. (My lovely wife is doing the messy work of the popping). This is the one--and so far only--shot we took. The resulting dust cloud settled everywhere.
Strobists: ISO 200, ƒ/5.0, 4 sec., Sigma EF-500 DG Super @ 1/32
camera right, Vivitar 285HV @ 1/16 pointing up from below washing the
background (probably should have been snooted...I'll have to make one).

Looks like a miniature climate was happening
inside that balloon :)

giiviak: Before inflating the balloon, I put
about three teaspoons of corn starch inside.
I inflated the balloon and then shook the
carn starch around inside to coat the walls
of it. Popping it with the needle captured
the corn starch outline of the balloon
(triggered with a home-built sound trigger)
before it blew all around the room.

How fast was the shutter? This is the MOST

digitaldirect11: the trigger was made from a
kit I ordered from a company called HiViz
(http://hiviz.com/kits/kits.htm). It's really
inexpensive, but it works pretty well. It's
also exceedingly easy to build. Their site
also has some useful info about high-speed
flash photography.
