Duplex where we lived from when I was 2 until I was 5. This is where I had my first encounter with my future husband. Gary's aunt lived next door.
Saint Michael's Elementary School. My sister and I would ride our bikes here every Saturday and meet Sara and JoAnn McClung to play on the playground.
Gary's grandparents lived here. My sister Megan and I would often stop at their house for treats on Saturdays on our way home from St Michael's.
Vincent Massey Elementary School. I went here for kindergarten. I transfered to Montreal Street School for grade one when I started French immersion.
30 Gray Crescent is where I grew up. We moved here when I was five and moved out when I was 14. My dad once built an ice rink in the backyard here. We had a lot of fun in the winter at this house building igloos and playing fox-hunt.
12 Huntley Court is where we moved when I was 14. We moved out when I was 17.
This is where my parents live now. I only lived here for about a year before I moved out on my own.
This was my junior high and high school (Grades 7-12).
This is where I went to church every Sunday.
I used to walk home from school down this back alley. My dad took me driving here a few times when I was finally tall enough to reach the pedals.
My friend Erin and I used to cut class in highschool to go to Subway. There was a really nice "sandwich artist" who worked here (who we thought looked like a witch) who would give us free pop. Becky, if you're reading this, cutting class is very bad.
This is where my friend Dawn lived. I quit my very first job at Taco Time from here when I was fifteen because they called me in when Dawn and I were in the middle of a movie. I only worked there two months, but I can still wrap a mean soft taco.
Jean Skinner was my piano teacher until I reached the grade six level. Then I transferred teachers. I think her son had a crush on me.
This is where a girl named Gina lived. I used to play at her house every Sunday after church. I loved going there because she had every toy imaginable. She didn't just have one My Little Pony, she had the whole ranch, plus accessories.
In grade 12, I was at a New Year's party here when a boy from school tried to win me over by singing "Summer of 69". Some other boys overheard, thought it was hilarious, and told everyone. They dedicated that song to us at grad and we had our own dance.
My friend Heather lived here. We walked home from school together when I lived at Huntley Court. Heather was the one who taught me the joys of prank calling people. At that time, caller ID was a thing of the future.
In had to ride the bus to school from grades 1-6. Once on the way home, my bus driver Lynn stopped at this mac's store and bought every kid on the bus an ice cream cone. Mint Chocolate Chip was always my favorite.
I got pulled over by a cop on this road when my friends Erin and Tyler were play fighting. I became distracted and swerved the car into the oncoming lane. I didn't get a ticket, but we all got warnings. My mom found out about it before I even got home.
Terri Clark Park. Named for the country singer who is from Medicine Hat.
My grade 9 graduation was delayed by a week because of major flooding of the South Saskachewan River.
My friend Alanna lived here. She had a real tree house up in a tree. She also had a giant dog, Tuck, that we would ride like a horse.
My mom helped me to open my first bank account at this CIBC branch when I was 15.
Crescent Heights pool. I took swimming lessons here every summer.
Hockey Hounds arena. This is where we went ice skating.... something I was never very good at.
This Leisure Center was built after I moved out of my parents house. We got in for free all the time because my friends Danielle and Alanna worked there.
This area is now developed with a co-op, a gas station and an
A & W.
I used to babysit here. I was walking home from school one day and a guy pulled up beside me in his car and asked if I would babysit for him. It turned out to be the best job ever. Only one kid and they paid $5/hr.
I babysat here for many years. This job wasn't that great because they had 4 little kids and only paid about $3/hr. It was pretty steady work though.
McCoy High School. This school was known for it's friday night dances. Kids from every high school in town would go...my friends and I never went to any, though. We had our own parties to go to.
We went to this Mac's store almost every day since it was right around the corner from our house. I used to buy those collecting cards here- the ones you'd stick in a book- She-Ra or Barbie. They came with sticks of stale gum.
I learned to ride my bike at this park. I was too afraid to learn on the street, so my dad let me ride on the grass.
