Space Needle from park

We took our first trip to the new outdoor sculpture garden run by the Seattle Art Museum. I thought it was going to be very very good. Instead, it was fantastic. Remarkable use of space. Great harmony among natural, manmade forms. Integration of existing infrastructure, surrounding landscape and buildings. The only flaw is that they did not conceive of how to protect sculpture that should not be touched. There is no separation from the art, which implies a relationship to the art that involves touching, frankly. The Calder, for instance, in other situations was touched all the time. Not here. On the other hand, I don't see how you could have the physical relationship with the enormous Serra pieces without being able to walk (or run) among them.
