K2 Navigation System

There's no place like 127.0.0.1... ;)

Entry length. Like in Safari, you can decide to only show headlines by sliding it all the way to the left.
Select a Month to filter out entries from a certain time. Might also contain years.
Ultimately I'd like to have a two-slider system which would allow you to specify a time period more specifically.
It says month, but it's supposed to say category. Really it should also be possible to select multiple categories... I guess I have to refine this a bit.
This resets all the options to the left.
Live search, which searches in the designated area, chosen from the options on the left.
Shows where in the archive you are, and is draggable so you can quickly move into the approximate area you want to be in.
Optimally I'd like it to have a hover bubble telling you in what time frame the slider is in as you hover.
Enter a page number. Don't know if this is particularly useful, as a blog has sliding pages, thus an archive page never stays the same for long.
Headline is of course dynamic in relation to the options you've chosen above.
You know... if you have the slider bar, do you -really- need "newer" and "older" buttons? I think that's a bit redundant, to be honest.
Yes, if they were at the bottom.
I have a grandma named Dolor
Makes it easier to step one page at a time.
I did this mockup a good while back, but figure I would shop it around for people to see. Also check out the
folded out version .

Must be an error somewhere, it's still here. I think Flickr is experiencing some minor problems just now.

Way cool.
Maybe not the most practical (read: usable/clear) of solutions overall, but there certainly are useful idea snippets.
Btw, you should tag it 'navigation' and 'ajax' and whatnot, for future generations

I've taken the liberty to delete the notes on the image and annotated it with some functionality descriptions instead.
