After the failure of yet another rainy season in Kenya in 2006, farmers saw their cattle, their only source of food and income, die of thirst and hunger. Water is a critical need in many districts. Local leaders warned that some people would face imminent death from thirst unless they got water immediately. In 2007, Red Cross Red Crescent Societies responded to 167 floods worldwide.
