I just read your caption.... pretty sad
ha.... I was raised in communist country too
where some of my loved ones perished because
they belived in God! There are many crazies
out there. It's not a religion if someone
gets killed participating in it. It's a mob
as far as I'm concerned.... sad sad world...

@ *IGORB81* - wow, Igor... I am sorry about the people
you lost... You are right, it is not just
religion. I think I was too young to
understand what was going on during communism
and its fall, but the more time passes the
more it blows me away... the nuisance of it
all.
We humans are better than that... There are
far more important things to do than kill
each other for being different. We could be
so much greater.

beautiful picture, sorry about the loss
behind it. I do not think it is religion or
God that is the problem, it is the people who
twist the religion to get others to do their
bidding. So many senseless acts against each
other even now.

So very well said and so sad story!!! Often
though it's just the people thinking they can
justify something with their religion or
others that blame them to do something
through it (while their relegion never would
justify something like that)... in the end
it's just the people doing crazy things... as
it's for religion in general, I don't really
care, as long as people just try to be good
people.
Awesomely beautiful picture!!!

That is a lovely picture Ili, wonderful
indeed, another success for sure.
And speaking of what you wrote, I think is
the human nature, that is evil, everyone has
the power to do evil things like that, nobody
teaches a kid how to lie and yes people like
to do those things in the name of their
religions and idols, like in the past people
use to sacrifice their little children in the
name of their idols, the bad new is that,
that wont ever stop, we will not experience
peace these days in this earth, not here, not
now, I am sure that we in our generation will
see worst crimes happen around the world,
sadly. God does exist but He is more that a
religion, religion is vain and empty.
Wish a lovely day my friend.

Two things: First , this is a near perfect

Second: With religion. Same as it ever was.
We must all learn to see the difference
between spiritual and religious. And realize
that the later does not always mean the
former.

seriously! i mean think about the children's
crusade! I have nothing against god or
religious beliefs, but fanaticism can be a
horrible thing. I can't imagine any sane
person who truly believes that any god would
want them to kill anyone, let alone their own
relative. ugh, i could talk about this for
days, but i won't.
as for the picture, it is perfect in its
simplicity. i'd call it a graceful tribute.

I came here attracted by the photo, wondering
how you managed to have the face be in shadow
while still having detail on the bloom.

"real". Thank you for helping us

What a marvelous execution for this message.
It's a horrific story. Unfortunately, in

include "freedom." Maybe someday
that will change but painfully not soon
enough.

I kind of believe that if there were no
religion, good people would be doing good
things, bad people would be doing bad things,
but there would be no good people doing bad
things in the name of religion. It's a sad
idea, but it's been exampled throught
history. I do know this is a minority and for
the most part religion helps people live
their daily lives, and helps them to grow and
seek comfort in any way they see fit.
On the other end of the scale, when I was
a little girl, an old nun came to visit my
school, to tell us about the life of a nun.
Someone asked her if she believed in miracles
and she said yes. They asked if she has seen
one, and she replied that the convent was
quite strict in their beliefs, and as such,
did not make much of a celebration of
birthdays. Every week at her convernt, the
nuns would recieve food packges from
supermarkets, usually canned goods and bread
etc. But one year on her birthday, amongst
the normal food items there was a birthday
cake. No one had asked for it, and the
supermarket never knew. She had never seen a
birthday cake in the packages, before or
since that birthday, and deemed that to be a
small miracle from God. I'm not religious but
I still love that little story today, for
some reason it makes me happy to know theres
still some nice things in the world :)
Very nice image too Ilina, I like the
striking difference in colour and tone to
your previous images. Bloody hell, essay

I think there's a huge fork in the road that
separates the "spiritual" self, and
the organized tenants of religion. I close
my eyes and a voice in my mind whispers any
religion is only bright as the person who
wields it, or the shamans who lead it. But I
wonder - in the beginning wasn't it supposed
to be about "faith" and isn't that
a personal thing?
" Du’a Khalil Aswad" what a
beautiful name... I hope she is at peace. No
doubt she is far closer to God than those who
threw stones.
(It's a beautiful tribute you've made for
her Ilina.)

What a superbly composed and lit shot to
illustrate such a sad story. The contrast
makes the story more poignant.
I've just come back from Cuba and, though
not religious myself, talked to some people
linked to the Church (Catholic). I could feel
their joy and relief at being able to
practice their religion after it had been
denied to them for many years.
It's frustrating when there doesn't seem to
be a correct answer.

IIilna,
I love reading your words and seeing your
images because they sometimes resonate the
injustices and evils of this earth. This is
one of them. I pledged a time ago that I
will devote myself and my being to the arts
because of the important responsibility that
I will represent the people who have no
voice. It's a very important responsibility.
It became obvious to me that filmmaking is
a serious responsibility: I will be
representing the lives of human beings and I
will speak for them who have no voice.
Illina, this is a strong message that you
wrote and I didn't know of this incident
before. Thanks so much for sharing this
story.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! I recently
read about a 'foreign' family who lived in
Texas. The father killed his teenage daughter
because she wore American style clothes to
school! Their religion justified it!
