The old town and the new(er) city centre seem to merge seamlessly.
Coloured windows and cobble-stone streets on the one side and glass buildings and tar road on the other!
See Large on Black

Contrary to what I anticipated, a lot of people have liked this photo. It's also used as the header for Alain Hubler's blog (Mr. Hubler is a city councillor of Lausanne).

It's just a panoramic HDR. Three shots converted to HDR and stitched together. The colours are typical of HDR images. A lot of times I don't like the effect because the colours change a bit (for example, the sky here and the slight 'negative' effect). But it often also renders the photo a bit more dramatic.
