Rhyolite is a former gold rush town located just west of Beatty, Nevada, close to the entrance to Death Valley National Park.

The town flourished for a very short time after gold was discovered in 1904. The prosperity was short-lived, though: By 1911, the town was virtually abandoned.

This is the Cook Bank building, one of collection of structures left behind in the desert.
