The Grand Canyon EffectActually, this shot wasn’t taken at the Grand Canyon, but rather at the Haleakala crater in Maui. Nevertheless, the principle remains the same. When people stand at the edge of a breathtaking vista and stare into it, they open themselves to the experience of the seemingly infinite vastness of time and space - and how small and apparently insignificant they feel by comparison. Call it the experience of “God,” if you like. The same thing can happen by the ocean, which led people to the term “The Oceanic Experience.”
Uploaded on Jul 24, 2008 Taking a DipThe human-made pool at Hale Akua wasn’t the only place you could take a swim. If you hiked down a steep trail from their property, you’d find a small waterfalls and natural pool… right on the edge of an incredible precipice! … That’s Hawaii for you.... Look closely to see the couple just about to take a dip.
Uploaded on Jul 23, 2008 Fire, earth, wateranother one of those pool shots that were so much fun that evening...

OK, so back to some of the shots that I took in Hawaii.
Uploaded on Jul 22, 2008 SurfacingWe just got back from several days of visiting Long Island where we celebrated my daughters 21st birthday and my Mom's 80th birthday. Now that our vacation in Maui and this more recent trip are over, I feel like I can begin to settle back into my more "normal" life routine... whatever "normal" is!
