Hmmm....maybe I lie this one even better! The
effecdt of the train lights coming to a
maximum on the right side is nice.

love the long exposure. and you minimized
those pesky wires on the far side that wreck
most of my shots of the elevator.

Very nice shot. Is the colour from you
manipulating it, or is that mostly
reciprocity failure?

thanks guys for the compliments!
dpd, I think I like this one better also.
I got lucky enough to catch 2 trains coming
across at the same time- the headlight from
the 2nd one really adds to the shot I think.
vonDoom- Yes, those wires are annoying! I
keep going back to this elevator and I always
end up shooting it from this spot with a
20mm. That seems to be the best way of
capturing it.
dexotaku- I didn't do any manipulating,
except to brighten it because my scans are
always way darker than the actual slide. I
don't think the color is from reciprocity
failure, just a really long exposure. The sky
was very overcast I think the green is from
street lamps reflecting off the clouds.

This is an incredible capture, John! Love
it.
As my favorite place to hang out and drink
in Lawrence is Henry's, I once saw some
photos by a local photographer hanging on the
wall and there was one similar to this shot.
This must be a popular place to shoot in
town! I'm still learning the spots.
Do you do any street photography on Mass?
Be in touch, for sure! I've been looking
for some local film photographers in the
area!

Thanks! I spend most of my time at henry's
also-I've probably seen you and just not
known it. I think I know the photo you're
referring to-my friend ailecia just had a
show there. if I'm right, it's another
elevator just outside of town. I actually
haven't seen too many of this one
(suprisingly), but I'd love to see someone
else's take on it.
If you're looking for places to go, try the
wetlands in south lawrence or the west
bottoms in kansas city. I've been here 2
years and haven't gotten tired of either.
Never done much street photography-I suck
at approaching people. and its hard to be
inconspicuous with an slr. Usually I just
walk around really late at night with a
tripod and shoot things that don't move.
say hi if you see me at henrys- i usually
have a nikon over my shoulder!

Sounds great, John! I think once I get my
M6, I'll also be that guy with the camera!
I've been to the wetlands and I, too, think
that place is incredible. I've never tried
the west bottoms, though. Have you tried
going to (and through) Lecompton? That's
where my shots of the Kansas River were
taken, as well as some of the other new ones.
It's a very desolate area if you're into
that sort of thing.
My girlfriend's birthday is on Saturday and
I think we'll be there later that night (we
go around 10:30 or 11 usually). Shoot me a
message if you're going. We'll shoot the
shit.
Take care, friend.

I've only driven through Lecompton briefly,
but it's probably worth checking out again.
not sure if I'll be there tonight- my usual
drinking buddy is out of town-but if so I'll
keep an eye out for you. I'd love to take a
look at that m6 when you get it. I've never
seen one up close and personal....

thanks... the original is a little darker-
the light from the train threw off the meter
and it got underexposed. but yeah, the
original is still green...fluorescent lights,
maybe?
