cracking shot,
don't think that is ursa minor. The end of
ursa minor is the pole star and I think it
should be higher than that in the sky.
Which way were you facing kaddy?

Mark Lorch, is correct. Polaris is the star
that all the others rotate around in those
long exposure shots that you see all the
time. It's also know as the north star and
is actually pretty faint to the naked eye.
This is a beautiful shot, Kaddy.

Good point toni
It looks like the stars are wheeling around
the top right so thats where Polaris (and
ursa minor) should be

I was facing northish, about NNW so it may be
in there. I'm at a latitude of ~45N which
should have the north star around 23 from the
horizon I think.

I think you are correct Mark...
I was thinking of it as if it were here
(ga). Polaris is much lower in the sky to me
than it would be to Kaddy.
when I look for it it is almost always in
the trees or just above.

It's been almost 2 months since I saw a star!
The last time was in Hawaii while I was on
holiday. We don't have any stars in South
Florida, it's quite sad.
This is gorgeous.
