Last night my sister-in-law's husband asked me, "Why do you test so much?" I explained to him that since I inject insulin ( and I explained about the important of insulin ) before each meal that in between meals and even before meals I have no way of knowing if my blood glucose level is going up, going down, or just hanging around.

"You have a healthy endocrine system that does what it is supposed to do. This finger prick, this test strip and meter, this shot of insulin - and my brain - they are my endocrine system."

	daena c. says: That exchange sounds familiar. My friends are always asking why I test so much. I use a manual car vs. auto car analogy to explain to them. But I really doubt they get the whole picture. It is hard for someone without diabetes to get it, I guess. Posted 9 months ago. ( permalink )

	stinky_harriet says: When one of my bosses sees me testing at my desk, he asks me why I still have to poke my finger, because he knows I have a pump. I've told him dozens of times that my pump is just an insulin delivery device but it doesn't deliver any insulin until I input some information first.
