The presence of the pieces of the wall here recall the pivotal role that Hungary played in the fall of East German Communism. Thousands of East German vacationers crossed the border from Hungary into Austria after the Iron Curtain was dismantled here in the late summer of 1989. This exodus helped spark the popular movement that led ultimately to the collapse of the East German regime and the breaching of the Berlin Wall.

	kjdrill says: The bus tour I took while in Budapest drove past it and I took a note of the location at the time. It was in an innoculous location which was pointed out on the bus tour I took. I returned on foot to take this shot. This was taken many years ago so they may have since moved it but if it is still at the same location, I'm sure someone with the tours will know about its location. Posted 28 months ago. 	BerlinByDay says: The painter of those 2 pieces is Thierry Noir. Those pieces were painted in September 1985 along the Waldemarstrasse in Berlin Kreuzberg.
