Pais Tropical

One of my contacts (Steve-h) was kind enough to teach me the fine art of mixing textures and gradients. Found a rather simple silhouette shot from my vacation photos and decided to experiment with it.

Used a radial gradient and a texture from ground*floor.

About the title, it's from a Sergio Mendes song (which was playing on my MP3-player while I took this shot) also titled "Pais Tropical". I believe it's a very accurate description of the Philippines as well... Tropical Country!

Tropical Reflections

Baybayon ni Agalon. Town of Albuera, Leyte, Philippines

Eventually the rain stopped and the sun showed up. Then I saw this reflection on the pond while waiting for the koi fishes to make an appearance. The shade from the cottage, where I took the shot, gave the foreground a much deeper blue tone (which I liked :-).

Salve For The Soul

Baybayon ni Agalon. Town of Albuera, Leyte, Philippines

Took a 25 minute drive out of Ormoc City to the neighboring town of Albuera and went to a resort called "Baybayon ni Agalon" (literally translated to "The Boss' Beach"). It was raining when we got there so I started off by taking a couple shots of this pond then I found an empty hammock in one of the cottages and decided to put down my camera and simply enjoy the rain from there. There's something about the rain hitting the pond and the lilies that is so soothing, sort of like salve for the soul.

Just enjoying the simple joys of nature and I hope you do the same...
