time to finally finish up my series of images from the Alviso Slough and salt ponds -- here's pond 8A again, with those cool saline colors...

	eva8* says: is this what i saw... was flying to SF, and as the plane was getting ready to land, saw a patchwork of oddly colored water in the bottom part of the bay. my friend didn't know what it was when i tried to explain what i saw, but her friend suggested it might be salt ponds, but he had no idea what they were for. 	lawatt says: yep, they are salt evaporation ponds, a 150-year old industry in the bay area. for more pictures of ponds still in operation (these are now part of a wildlife refuge & are slated to be restored to marsh), see here Posted 35 months ago. ( permalink )
