Commuters
These days I try to ride my bike to work as much as possible, weather permitting. Some days I have to take the subway.
Here's the thing: my timing in buying a bike couldn't have been better. Recently the entrance to the PATH station was temporarily moved from the south end of the WTC on Church Street to the north side on cramped little Vesey Street. When I walk, I walk down Vesey. Every morning and every afternoon there are massive crowds and tussling among the now two-way foot traffic where once was one-way. Yesterday I decided, why fight it? So, I stopped and took photos, to the pissed-off looks of passersby. Actually, I didn't stop; I walked into it, camera to my eye the whole time, with a long-ish shutter and a deliberate jerk of the hand every time I pressed the button.

Take Your Time
Part of the Olafur Eliasson retrospective at the MoMA and P.S. 1. I'm looking forward to the East River waterfall installations.
That's me on the left, my brother on the right.

Salvia Sizzler Purple
I planted my little garden yesterday: red and gold marigolds in one box, sizzler purple and some sort of border plant in another, and a potted flowering plant whose variety escapes me right now. I just know I have to water it regularly. Here's hoping that asshole squirrel stays away.
As much as I love purple (it's my favorite color) and as happy as I am with these plants, I hate the name: Salvia Sizzler Purple. What is that? Two nouns followed by an adjective? I want to know who is responsible for that name. I'm prepared to go all Strunk & White on his/her ass.

Gang Gang Dance
Gang Gang Dance at Southpaw, 4/29/08
When they went on, I had seven shots left on my roll, which had split time that night at Southpaw and a few days earlier at P.S. 1. I used them up in about 2 minutes.
I really ought to be using 3200 film to shoot bands, but the 400 seemed to work okay this night. Fortunately for me, the bands were not bathed in red light.
