Learn Esperanto, they tell us it's the international language. Not English not Spanish not Chinese. This is a minority opinion.

Did you know that esperanto was 'invented' by a polish Jew? (Ludwik Zamenhof or Eliezer Lewi Samenhof)
maybe it's because Polish is said to be one of the most difficult languages and it will never become international :D

Wow, Fajro. You Esperanto guys are on the ball. An Esperanto-related photo gets posted to Flickr and within hours you are on the scene. (Who even knew there was an Esperanto group?) Impressive. I might have to give this language a second try. Or a first, actually.

Lorien: Yes, I did know that. Impressed huh?
Bombilla: that's funny and you make a good point. You know, many years ago one cold and rainy weekend when there was nothing on the telly and the internet hadn't been invented yet I read a couple of Esperanto grammar books rather as an intellectual exercise than as devotion to the international language. The strange thing was that shortly afterwards the books were stolen!! . I'm still looking for that dastardly esperanto speaking thief. Fajro any ideas? I offer a reward albeit a very, very insignificant one.

I personally think that Esperanto is a little biased on the western influence, lack of influence from the East, which makes it less international.

Digimai - I agree though perhaps Fajro has an answer to that.

Esperanto's vocab is largely based on English and Romance languages with some Germanic and Slavic influence though its grammatical structure is much closer to Asian languages and is so un-Western so I would not agree that Esperanto is a Western Language and if I had to choose between English or Esperanto as an international AUXILLARY language, I'd go with Esperanto.
