The roof was planned arched (would look much better) by architect Meinhard von Gerkan from Gerkan, Marg & Partners. Deutsche Bahn (railway) boss Hartmut Mehdorn ordered it to be flat to save some bucks. At the wrong place, IMHO.

View at the lower level of the Berlin main railway station, where most of the long distance trains call.
