Alhambra Ring

It was unclear what this open ring plaza area was used for. Actually, just about everything at the Alhambra was unclear due to lack of context.

This is a Palace ordered by Emperor Carlos V, built inside the morish complex, about 3 decades after the conquest of Granada. Spanish kings were fond of building inside or on top of older Islamic buildings (another example is Cordoba's Mosque)
