World's First Motel - 2/2

A closer look at the Motel Inn. It is fenced off and appears to be abandoned. I'm not sure what will become of this. Will it be preserved?

Motel Inn alongside U.S. 101 in San Luis Obispo was built in 1925 and is the first motel in the world. The word "motel" was also coined here. When billboards originally went up advertising this place, people thought that "hotel" was misspelled. An appropriate place for the first motel since it is located about half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

How did you get so close? I'm dying to do a photo shoot in there (if even just in the parking lot).

I got to go to a banquet dinner here when I was in high school.

WOW, they have really hacked a lot of the building off. Looks like the bungalows out back are gone, too. Such a shame.
