Several thousand people marched in a show of support for federal legislation that would give illegal immigrants and their families a shot at becoming legal residents.

The turnout these last three years varied -- this year (and last) was estimated between 5K and 10K (in 2006, they estimated 65K); the '07/'08 marches were over in about 15 minutes, so they were over fairly quickly, but no less meaningful than the first one.

The marchers kept shouting
Si se puede!
(We can do it!).

I sure hope we can, it's about time.
