I think Steve Jobs is impressed. His baby is all grown up and out of his hands and the people have gone and turned it into something beautiful. But like many parents these days he's being a little over protective and needs to lay off.

it's still on 1.0.1; I used anySim to unlock it, and from what I understand, it'll brick with the next software update (1.1.1).
so I figure I'll just keep this one at 1.0.1. Either, there will be a way to upgrade & unlock, or not. if not, I'll just get a new one (e.g. 3G 32GB) at some point - as I was planning to do anyway - and use this one when I'm out of the US.

Cool, Did you downgrade to 1.1.1 to get it to work? im thinking of getting one but ive heard its impossible to unlock (the UK model that is).

ahhh, Apple hates unlocked iPhones, because they get $400 for each 2yr service agreement with ATT, on top of the $400 iPhone (well its currently $400, who knows what it will be in a few months with the iPhone2) =]

hah, you have documentation for that amount? unlikely. and it's not just AT & T.
and I would think that Apple would be happy to have sold iphones where they have no agreement with a national carrier: better to have income from sold phones, then not to have sold the phones at all.
