I have been scared of toy monkeys ever since
I saw this commercial when I was a kid in
which a toy monkey with a set of cymbals is
clapping away, and suddenly it turns into a
real monkey that screams and leaps at the
camera with its teeth barred. Scared the
bejabers out of me. It was supposed to be an
example of an LSD trip gone bad.
This picture brought all that back.

Oh this monkey is fun! :D
CaptPiper: uh oh, I know what you mean. I
had similar feelings about dark rooms, after
seing Roman Polanski's "The Fearless
Vampire Killers" at the age of six. You
know that movie? It's some kind of funny
slapstick vampire movie.. but not for a six
year old. .)

The photo is FUN! :)
Shame for the cymbals on middle bottom...
If you had cut them out...
Anyway, again.. REAL FUN! :)

This is very quirky and looks like something
you'd see on an album cover.
Well executed and wholly original.

I'd crop in and take out the symbols. The
angle catches the expression perfectly, and
the colors are great.

Definitely a psychedelic element here (for
me atleat), i think on a technical level
plenty works 0 colours, texture of the little
monkey and the aperture. The subject itself
does not really move me although does make me
smile.

Funny shot. A little disturbed by the shadow
in the background. I would suggest to do some
cropand get a tighter frame to exaggerate the
facial expression.

The monkey is cute, and nice colors. The
background adds little, maybe a tighter crop
would deemphasize that. The tip of his hand
and the cymbals are a little distracting. A
little more detail on his ears would also
help.

Love the subject. Agree with comment above
about needing all the cymbals in there to
complete the creepiness of it. Is it maybe a
little overexosed? The teeth look a little
washed out on my monitor.

I like the shot and the DOF, but I would try
another one with a background that is either
uniform or in a differen colour so as to
really draw out the details and the line of
the monkey.

FYI 100 Points people, we're really at #9 now
due to the double #7's that confused things;
i.e., the next one will be #10.

Original, creative and it transmits a feling
all right (I find it quite scary!)
The composition and DOF work perfectly for
me and so does the background. Good (monkey!)
shoot!

Thanks everyone for the criticisms. I might
try to reshoot this with some of your ideas
if I can catch him again.
