yep. It was funny a first person was
standing there on top of the hand rail but
was scared to jump, everyone was yelling jump
jump but he was kind of scared. Then some
teenager was like "I'll do it" and
so then after he first jumped then people
kept jumping and jumping, tons of people.
There were tons of photographers on the pier
then taking photos too and so I have been
trying to find them here on flickr, checking
the tags Coney Island and diving and haven't
seen any yet, I am surprised. I want to see
if anyone I know in the flickr world was
actually there.

Awesome! Only comment is to never do that
during low tide. Grew up there in the 1970s
and 1980s and TONS of people got screwed up
by jumping when the water was shallow.

Yeah, that is exactly my fear when I saw the
first person being scared, I didn't blame him
for being scared because I was thinking, is
it deep enough. But then this teenager ran
from far away and jumped and so everyone saw
he was ok, so they all started doing it after
him.

says, "No Diving!"

your comments!
I saw photographers there too and looked
for any other photos from today.

I still am suprised I haven't found more
photos from this day. There were so many
photogs there. I always think they must be
on flickr, but I guess must of them were not,
either that or they did not tag it. I
basically only found my niece's photos who
was there with me.

The longer I live, the more I feel that great
art, including great photographs, must
represent or maintain the essential mystery
of existence; must engage its audience on an
unconscious level, must embody a certain
mysticism; and if anything, must mandate a
*distance* from easy comprehension; in this
way the spell remains. Well my friend I'd
like to call this a great photograph if I
may. Well done.

Funny how there are signs ALL OVER the pier
that say, "NO DIVING" yet every
summer, people diving from the pier is a
common sight. :D
Posted 2 weeks ago.

|

true, they are all over the pier those signs.
It is dangerous to do it. Everyone waits
for the first person to do it and see if he
is ok, then the rest will do it.
