When I go back to Tokyo, Japan, my home away from home is in Nakano. It really is a convenient place as it is only a few minutes away from Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Shibuya, and other popular places to visit.
Seen above is the Nakano bus station. It's the all too familiar scene that I've been accustomed to for years now. This was taken from the Yamanote line platform as I was waiting for the train to arrive. Walk anywhere down below the bus terminal and you'll be guaranteed to get yourself some free tissue paper packages. For the sake of advertisements, in Toronto, we get flyers, in Tokyo, you get tissue paper. It's something we can all use. When I was smaller and came back to Japan, I used to make it a requirement to see exactly how many tissue papers packs I can collect during my stay. Suffering from allergies all the time, these little packs came in handy wherever I went. I remember in one outing I managed to get handed to me a whole handful of packs enough so that I ran out of places to put them. Funny, as I look to my shelf right now, I see some tissue paper packs from Japan just sitting there. I wonder how long they've been there for now?
Behind the bus terminal is the entrance to the Broadway shopping arcade. I've always remembered this mall to be huge, with stores lined along the sides and people coming in and out of them. When I came here in my most recent trip, it hit me that this mall really isn't all that large, nor the stores all that interesting! It's funny how you perceive things so differently when you are just a child.
