wow, this is amazing! So bleak, lonely and
dissorganized. I love the red objects
scattered among the rubble. Wonderful view of
this room!

I took a picture of a piano in an abandon
house alot like this, it wasn't broken, but
someone had peed all over all the keys so you
couldn't play it, it was a yellow piano too,
so it sort of looked like it had taken the
color of the pee. I wasn't broken, though
there was a door broken down right next to
it.
Great photo!

it's funny you ask, ksharghi!
This uilding has been used by
preservationists to show that the city does
not care about its buildings.
All of its windows were stripped along with
a bunch of terra cotta lions circa 2000.
In late 2005 scavengers then went to the
buildings valuable copper roof. I was on a
local news station to get the city to do
something. Months later the whole roof was
gone.
This building closed as apartments in 1995
or sometime around then.

I started playing the piano when I was 5. My
mom liked to hear me play even though every
time I made a mistake I went back to the
beginning. She died when I was 17 and I
stopped playing.
We lived in Lake Orion.

A sad commentary. One thing that strikes me
in the picture are the two small red balls
below the piano. I'm reading them as
Christmas ornaments. Such fragile things to
have survived the rampage.

Wonderful shot. I'm taking it this piano is
not an upright. ;) It's sad to see such a
beautiful instrument on it's last legs, so to
speak. Although I'm sure Billy Joel and Elton
John have tossed pianos at their concerts, I
don't think they'd let something like this
happen. Good luck with the preservation work.
