i'm a dunkin donuts kind of guy so basically everything else is pretty fancy for me. but i liked this one 'cause it didn't taste fancy -- which to me often tastes over-roasted or burnt.

That's exactly what I mean. It's not burnt tasting and they care a whole lot about their coffee. Not much in the way on Dunkin Donuts in LA but that would be a good alternative if it was around.
