Neko Cafe, Kichijoji, Tokyo.
The Exotic Shorthair getting ready for his closeup.
'Cat Cafe' places originate in Taiwan, where they are apparantly extremely popular, but seem to be a hit with the Japanese, too - we had to go on a waiting list to visit on this occasion. You pay an entry fee, sanitize your hands, then feel free to 'relax with coffee and cat' and gasp 'kawaiiii!!!' ('cute') as many times as you wish- given that many Japanese apartment are minuscule, this is one of the few ways to enjoy the company of a pet. I am not sure how much the cats enjoy this, but these cats appeared well looked after and quite happy, with some of them relishing the fuss.

Cat cafe! That sounds like the coolest place
ever!
That kitty looks very cute indeed, very well
groomed. I'm sure it is lapping up all the
attention. I think my cuddlepuss Bambam would
be well suited to working in cat cafe...

Cheers! I would love to have a cat, but... so
guess what? I loved the place. I have never
seen so many exotic breeds under one roof,
and that accessible. We spent just over an
hour there... my friend's meticulously
planned itinerary called for a visit to the
spa.
@Weardale: 'Cafe du Chav' ?
@Flickrway: If there is ever one over here,
guess who'll run it!
@Myxi: the same draw, if not more! Rabbits
are very kawaiiiiiii! indeed, and the
Japanese are in love with Beatrix Potter...
so bring on the rabbit bar!

Ahhhhhh... cute little frolicking lambs!!!
Flickrway, you are a genius. We'd have to
replace them quite often, as they turn into
stupid-looking sheep quickly... I hate to
think of ways of replacing them.... perhaps,
miniature pigs? George Clooney had some sort
of cute little pig!

Cool, I think we do need one in the North
East..
Mini-pigs sound like a good plan, although a
word of warning, I heard they cost £2000
each. How about some monkeys? With a bit of
training they could probably serve the tea
too. Or have I seen too many PG-tips adverts?

I meant... the George Clooney pigs. What
about ye olde Ferret 'n Whippet Inn? We're up
North, after all - shouldn't that get exotic
Londoners and Japanese tourists flocking up
here?
