Very cool. I love Hemingway. Though I never
could get through For Whom the Bell Tolls. I couldn't get past the main character's
name. It kept making my mind wander off to
the Wheel of Time series. =)

Greg: Great link. Thanks.
Rib: A jacket in the Cuban heat would be
rather miserable....
Lostfate: I've always thought that the
easiest Papa Hemmie book to get into was/is
"A Moveable Feast." I'd suggest it
as a starter for anyone who has never read
any Hemingway. It's also very accessible for
anyone who doesn't speak English natively but
has a fair reading knowledge of English.

maybe Hemmie suspected his cat was sipping
his wine... those darn cats.

Hemmie probably would have given the kitties
a saucer of Beaujolais if they asked for it.

YOur next trip should be to Cuba and go to
Finca Vigia which was the home of Ernest
Hemingway in San Francisco de Paula, Cuba.
That is where that photo was taken. BAck
then had plenty of cats. But no cats now. I
have been there several times. There you can
also see the Pilar which was his fishing
boat.
In fact in my collection of Cuban images
www.paganelliphotography.com/site/?p=459
You can see Gregorio Fuentes (google him)
whom Hemingway based his novella The Old Man
and The sea.
He was a Spaniard who settled in Cuba when
he was a young man. He was around 93 when I
first met him in 1990 and when I took that
photo. I was surprised at how sharp and
strong he still was. His eyes were the color
of the sea and still bright and undefeated.
He passed away a few yrs ago and he was
104. So he live a long a fruitful life.
Glad I found you here and now I can wait to
read your latest book.

ah, I looked closer at the bottle behind the
cat... perhaps there was a bit of the sipping
going on outside of Hemingway. Since there
were reportedly several kitties around, maybe
this one cat had decided not to become an
alcohol-iinfluenced writer [most cats,
regrettably, have been mistakenly thought to
be inspiration--the feline species have all
agreed to blame this mistaken muse-ology on
Schrödinger's Cat (who really wasn't that
interesting a personality as cats go in the
cat world ). While some cattage still argue
over the quality of the wine-induced words,
most agree felines are all great writers who
never get credit where credit is due.
Hemingway's cattage were probably no
exception to the rule.
