"Fallen"

An acorn plunges to Earth
A firestorm unfolds it’s harden shell
Rains falls inward life expands
A seedling grows from the land
Life seeking energy arms outreach
Roots spread inward holding deep
Freedom and space all abound
Grew up straight grew up strong
Lived among the Native Peoples
Watch them hunt the Great Whitetail
For 230 years I stood my ground
Till one day, the greedy saw
Man made machines broke my peace
Eerie sounds of metal teeth
Tearing inward heart is pierced
A magnificent giant descends the sky
Arms outreaching to break the fall
Laying now on sacred ground
Momentum turns me up to see
Horrified Oaks looking down at me
Reflections of there future revealed
Wood butchers consummate my dismay
Seconds past my life repeats
Of what I was with last pulsate
Withered away all pieces now.

very nice...I feel the same way! I live in the sand Barrens on the eastern edge. We have a lot of sand, Jackpine trees and scrubby oaks…some get big…the logging is clear cut, they leave a small one acre piece so it can be called a “select” cut, then they furrow it really deep, plant Norway trees, and hire out the crop dusters to come by and spray the areas with defoliants so the leafy plants and trees die and don’t compete for water…it is really sad…

I am a writer too, and have been writing poems for my nature shots…the ones that I have put on Flickr are not my best work, but shots I think are nice. Thanks for sharing your poem and pictures!!! I enjoyed every one! Anna
