	Morti Riuuallon says: They're protected, but some poaching undoubtedly happens, and they're being farmed for meat and other products, so yes, they're still eaten. It's low-cholesterol meat, I'm told. Sadly for us city dwellers who wish to taste it, it has been labelled "non-conventional meat", what means that we can't buy it at the local supermarket. And to think that our native people have traditionally chewed on this bird for thousands of years... Posted 22 months ago. ( permalink )

	Morti Riuuallon says: Well, maybe it would be good for male rheas to have a place to chill out a bit... after all, they have serious parental duties (the male alone has to build the nest, incubate a lot of huge eggs and care for all the resulting chicks!).
