Just demonstrating the noise created by the flash when using low batteries. The recharge time is also quite long on this, also due to the flat batteries.

The audio you hear in this video is from a DIY headset mic you can just see between the flash and meter.

(Times will not match video as I trimmed it to fit the video-feed.) Plot is also a bit messy as I'd run several filters over the audio before even thinking I'd use the plot on-line. Yeah, I know it's metered at 1m typically, but at that range the basic meter I had to hand wouldn't hear anything as it only goes down to 50dBA. Another reason I chose to "get up close and personal" is because most people hear their flashes from a distance of under 10cm when the flash is on the camera. It would have been a bit more scientifically accurate to measure at 10cm and scale from there, but nothing would be readable on the meter if I zoomed out! :-) Posted 4 months ago. ( permalink )
