Sunlight shadows on the sidewalk, Friday afternoon

"Leaving work at 5.30pm today, I swung the front door shut behind me, and something about the late afternoon light made me stop dead in my tracks. Seconds later, my bag hit the ground and I was kneeling on the walkway, camera in hand, snapping photos of the sunlight on the grass. When I'd decided a dozen photos was more than enough, I stood up, brushed off my knees, and, before turning away to head back to my car, I stopped and aimed one final, level glance at the shadows, thinking,
I have to remember this moment so I can write about it later. "
This is the photo that started the
(3)BeautifulThings project on my weblog:

Oh, I love this. The shapes, the colors, the light. The
contrast! Really great shot.

Beautiful buddy! Love that happy shade of
green.
Not fair that you guys still have
sunshine... rainy days in London...
Btw why on earth are you going to work at
5.30pm???

Saint Pitbull - so glad you like! You made me
smile, because those are all the things I
loved about this moment, too. =) Thanks for
stopping by and commenting, buddy!
Zana me love, I was LEAVING work at 5.30pm.
=) We've been having a rainy-ish week in
NorCal lately, too, which is why I loved the
sunshine here all the more.
The funny thing, you guys, is that the
green came out so bright , I was trying to figure out how to darken it
in Photoshop. Wasn't very successful. =)

Looking at fresh green grass is VERY good for
your eye-sight. So all the fellow
spectacle-wearing friends, you should gaze at
this picture for atleast two minutes.
..
..
my friend, you blog entry is beautiful, I
should have been commenting there, but Alas,
the uber slacker-ish habits. Keep the
pictures coming Love :)

Goodness. You all like this as much as I do,
it seems. I was thinking perhaps I was a
little cracked-out to be liking a bit of
concrete and grass so much. =) Just for that,
I'm sending you all sunshine. It's coming in
the mail, just watch for it.
Anil - Thank you, buddy. The other eye
ain't so bad either! hahaha someone used that
line on me once as a response, and I've
always wanted to say it myself. Makes me
laugh. =)
cuore di marmo - it was! come visit CA
someday, and we'll sit around in the
sunshine, I promise.
Ayesha - LIES, ALL LIES, why do I still
have to wear glasses then? hmph. Also, stop
with this slackerishness drama; I miss my
blogistan buddies.
Sarah - No. I think that must be the nicest
thing anyone has ever said about my photos.
(Barring Anil, above, who I remember also
left some lovely comments once, except I
can't remember what photo(s) they were on,
because I am growing old and senile.) Thank
you so much, buddy. =)
Fayyaz - EAT IT. Dude, I think this picture
is totally edible. You up for a snack?
malconsidine - you were SO close to being
brilliant! It's actually San Jose, so that
makes it Santa Clara County, right? (Four
months, and I'm still kinda outta the loop
with this whole South Bay/Silicon Valley
geography thing.) What was it about this
photo that made you guess Alameda County?
Glad you like. =)
Anjum - Looks like we're all fans of your
childhood. =) For some reason, your comment
about childhood made me think of hot
sidewalks and ice cream trucks. Mmm, ice
cream...
Hashim - Just for you, I had tagged this
with "leading lines"! hahaha

The light, grass and cement screamed
Oakland/San Jose. 20's - 30's Bay Area...
which of course is in the SV too.

malconsidine - Man, you're good. =) Clearly,
you know the Bay. I started working in the
South Bay at the beginning of the summer, and
it's made me realize how little I know about
that area. Months later, I'm still struggling
to figure out the geography, among other
things.

malconsidine... she's not kidding. everytime
we go driving in the area - we end up in
Oakland somehow.
has she ever mentioned that one hand is
usually on the CD player and the other one is
on the rearview mirror examining her
eyebrows?
it could explain a lot i think.
