Group Description

Everyone knows Washington, D.C. is home to countless historical landmarks, but many of us forget the rich history found in our local cemeteries. A plot of land filled with caskets and gravestones may not sound very interesting, but I've found our local cemeteries to be places full of beauty and art. From well known locations such as Rock Creek and Oak Hill to the forgotten Mt. Zion, take the time to explore these sacred treasures and to appreciate beauty in the most unexpected places.

Please note: this group is only for pictures of cemeteries in D.C. proper. If you have pictures taken at Arlington National Cemetery, please add them here.

I'm trying to gather a complete listing of all cemeteries in the city. Please contact me with additional locations I've forgotten so that I can add them to the following list:
Adas Israel Hebrew Cemetery
Battleground National Cemetery
Congressional Cemetery
Holy Rood Cemetery
Mt. Olivet Cemetery
Mt. Zion Cemetery
Glenwood Cemetery
St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery
Oak Hill Cemetery
Prospect Hill Cemetery
Rock Creek Cemetery
Soldiers Home National Cemetery
Washington Hebrew Con Cemetery
