Hi all, I ran across this group as I was looking for rag rugging instructions. I just purchased Diana Blake Gray's book and I should receive it today. I've been practicing in the meantime and realized quickly I needed to brush up on my single crochet. I've found some materials and have started tearing and sewing the ends together. I can't wait to get started. I'm hoping to have some placemats soon!

I have always loved rag rugs, but thought the price people wanted for making them was bit out there(no matter how much I wanted one). So I decided to make my own. I think it will mean more by making it myself anyways. So far, I've found two really good tuturials @ www.ragrugcafe.com and www.vintagechica.typepad.com. I have attempted two rugs so far (both unfinished). I started my first one w/the knotting technic and my second w/the crocheting technic. I actually prefer the crocheting. However, I still have the problem w/bowling and waving issues in my rug. I have discovered that there is no "exact" mathematical way to go about this and you just have to get a feel for what works with your own rug. I'm enjoying the process and can't wait to complete a rug!

actually there are mathmatics in rugs if you crochet lots of doilies you will know the mathamtics of it and it works for rugs too waving too many increases bowing too few
