My interests are sports photography, travel, riding my electric bike to work, keeping in contact with friends, staying fit and recently, Second Life. I live in Carlsbad, California, a small beach town in northern San Diego County. I enjoy playing beach volleyball with my coworkers once a week in the summertime, riding my bicycle down to the state park about a mile from my home and doing some body surfing with flippers or on weekends, my husband and I go surfing a couple of miles north of where we live. Since I moved to Southern California, I have not been snowboarding much at all due to the distance, cost, and free surfing nearby.

Unlike many photographers, I actively encourage others to distribute my photographs or derivative works based on them. A link back to the original photo is all that is needed if you would like to use one. Flickr has a conservative take on which photos should be marked moderate or restricted with regards to their safety level so many of my photos are marked as restricted. Unfortunately, this blocks you from getting a sharing link to the photos. If you need the link to a photo, contact me through Flickr Mail and I will be happy to email the link to you.

You are welcome to download any of the images of my photostream with a Creative Commons license as long as you comply with the terms of the agreement. Most of my images are made available under this license and generally, it means that you need to provide a link back to the original photo to credit me, the photographer. If you just can not wait, add "Photo credit: Chris Hunkeler" but you should follow up and get the link so that others may access the photo directly in the maximum resolution available.

As of 2021, some albums are available for bulk download from Mega.nz. My hope is that some of you will preserve these on your own hard drives in case my Flickr account ever ceases to exist. Feel free to request an album you would like made available.

Chris is an outstanding and talented photographer who combine‘s technical know-how with a professional’s eye to capture just the right shot. His skills are particularly showcased across the spectrum of men’s collegiate athletics, and especially with respect to collegiate men’s wrestling. His images of wrestling matches reveal quite well the raw physicality of male bodies engaged in this ancient sport, and though captured in present day venues, harken back to the days of Ancient Greece.
